Boycott California?
Clueless Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joins the boycott of Arizona. Heres a question for the L.A City Council, California school districts who are
Here’s a question for the L.A City Council, California school districts who are canceling trips to Arizona, and those sanctimonious San Franciscans in their Sanctuary City.
What state’s penal code does the following section come from?
(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
That would be… California!
Oops.
The only real difference between Arizona and California on the “show me your papers” front is that in Arizona they no longer call I.C.E. and get sluffed off, they enforce the law themselves.
Which means none of the reasons given by California liberals for opposing the Arizona law are honest. What they are really mad about is that in Arizona, immigration laws will be enforced, and that in California they are not– and in the rest of the country for that matter.

ARIZONA GOVERNOR HAS SERIOUS VIDEO MESSAGE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA
“I have been and will be… a citizen legislator, a steward of the office”, JD Hayworth

by Jim Kelley on May.07, 2010, under Politics
This evening, JD Hayworth, Republican Party candidate for the US Senate, opened his Tucson campaign office. Attendance hovered over 100 people for about 2 hours. KGUN-9 covered the event alongside the BBC. Yes, the BBC, as in the British Broadcasting Corporation. I wiggled my way into an at length sit down interview with the former Congressman, radio host, television broadcaster, college football player and Eagle Scout. Of course I am reminded by Eagle Scouts throughout Arizona that there is no former to the Eagle Scout moniker, he is an Eagle Scout.
Prior to my time with the candidate, I spent some time talking to the people who came out to greet him. I spoke to a couple from Tucson who owns a local business, Tad Denton, age 42 and his wife Anita, age 37. They have never been active in politics before but have followed it. Tad is a native of Tucson and has some real estate investments and she runs an assisted living facility. They have belonged to the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, and other industry groups. They are pretty normal everyday Republicans living their dream as best as possible. I wanted to know what brought them out and what they intended to do. “Well, my city has only one level one trauma center at UMC. It seems all the politicians here care more about illegal immigrants than they do their own citizens.” Anita said. “I’m looking for a candidate that will cut the Federal government in half and secure our border. The government has grown way too large and is taking on responsibilities that don’t belong to the state.” said Tad. I asked them why they supported JD instead of John McCain. “I can relate to JD. As much as we appreciate Senator McCain’s service to our country, it is time for him to retire. From his past voting record we just can’t trust him anymore” they added.
JD opened the Tucson office by standing on a table outside in the courtyard and opened with a joke. He said he was glad to see the BBC present because when the Daily Telegraph wrote a story about him they called him “the candidate with the broad shoulders, excellent voice projection and Trump like hair.” He was proud to announce that his son John Micah Hayworth has been elected to the president of the philosophy club at Notre Dame Preparatory High School in Phoenix and unseated an incumbent to do it. JD hopes it is ominous and prophetic. JD likes to tell the story of the woman and her daughter in Philadelphia at the time the Constitutional Convention was being held. Afterwards, the woman saw Benjamin Franklin and asked, “Dr Franklin, what form of government have you given us?” Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” This is probably one of JD’s favorite stump quotes because it takes him immediately into his philosophy of government and his view of our tasks and his vision for the future as a Republic. The other Franklin quote he gives is “A democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what’s for dinner. A republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote.” JD believes the context of “well armed” means well educated and knowledgeable about the constitution and love for the Republic respecting the rights of the minority. He said “There should always be energetic opposition, not grounded in negativity but on the Constitution itself.” He said Obamacare could have been defeated with four words that Senator McCain knew he could say and never did. Senator McCain could have at the time the clerk read the title and the motion made to accept the bill like it had been read, said “ Mr President , I object.” That would have forced under Senate rules the entire bill be read by the clerk and when he came upon a blank portion under any section, the American people would then know full well that Rahm Emanuel, the president’s Chief of Staff, was in Harry Reid’s office doing his best to fill in those blanks while Senators who had never read the bill prepared to vote on it.
“To date Senator John McCain, has not signed on as a co-sponsor to Senator Jim Dement’s (R-SC) bill to repeal Obamacare, nor has he signed any pledge to do so. All he has to do is go to www.repealitnow.org, and add his name to the petition and ask Senator Dement to be added as a co-sponsor.” “Senator McCain talks about his and Senator Jon Kyl’s ten point plan to reform immigration laws and secure the border, yet he has introduced no bill to that affect.” “In the past the people of Arizona have been skeptical of Senator McCain’s behavior, now they are just cynical.”
What subsidies would you support and what subsidies would you oppose?
Well the United States Postal Service is constitutionally subsidized, so that one stays. I see the Department of Commerce disappearing except for the National Weather Service and the Census Bureau. Everything else is on the table. The Obama administration has raised discretionary spending 80%. We need to freeze government spending at pre-stimulus levels and cut away at the size of government. We are going to have to make profound cuts in entitlements. We have no choice but to raise retirement age for Social Security.
Who can tell you when you are wrong?
First and foremost my wife. (Immediately, his cell phone rang and it was his wife, Mary confirming that she can tell him when he is wrong). But the people of Arizona can and have and will. Persuasive argument is accepted and I do want to hear it and I will listen to it. I didn’t go to D.C the first time to be a career politician. I served from 1994 to 2006. The defeat helped me re-center myself back to my family and gave me time to reflect. I did register as a lobbyist but my primary function in that role was more as a political advisor to people that needed to know how to approach legislation than anything else. I have learned some tough lessons and I am stronger, and my family is stronger for it. I have been and will, with the voters consent again, be a citizen legislator. I will do twelve years and come home. I will be a steward of the office.
What calibrates your moral compass?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Christian, which means I am a sinner requiring and requesting the grace of God. The constitution says no religious test is to be given as a qualification for office. It does not say I have to abandon my faith or my religion to be in office. When Winston Churchill, Harry Truman and Joseph Stalin were at Potsdam after World War II, Churchill returned to England for his campaign for the office of the Prime Minister of England. When he lost, he did not return to Potsdam. His wife said “Winston this may be a blessing in disguise.” Churchill replied “Well my dear, it is a very well disguised blessing indeed.”
If you were a cactus what kind of cactus would you be?
A stately saguaro. They have longevity. (He then repeated a joke that Mo Udall once told him about the difference between a cactus and a caucus. Let’s just say I haven’t figured out how to clean up the punch line for this article).
So there you have it. JD Hayworth, candidate for the US Senate. I have met him on numerous occasions before this interview. He always remembered my name. He always greeted me enthusiastically. He did not know that I was writing a column at the Tucson Citizen for the last month until tonight. He just thought I was a substitute teacher and precinct committeeman. He didn’t hesitate to go on the record and he did not distract from any issue I discussed. I think his experience with various and nefarious players in the political world have honed his instincts but have not dampened his enthusiasm. I saw no cynicism in him tonight. I saw a man who believes in himself, believes all is not lost and believes that there are solutions to everything we are experiencing. He knows he doesn’t have all the answers but he thinks he can bring the people who can contribute to solutions to the process, particularly people who have been marginalized by party organizations in the past. His grassroots support from the new conservative activists, the over 400 new precinct committeemen in Pima County as well as the large number of new recruits in Maricopa County give energy to his campaign not experienced for a long time in the Republican Party.
Can JD Hayworth beat Rodney Glassman? The polling shows he can. Can JD Hayworth beat John McCain? I don’t know yet. This summer will be the true test. JD Hayworth supporters are younger and have more to lose than John McCain supporters. They use the social media better than McCain supporters. They are more decentralized and cell like. They have a fire in their gut that McCain supporters don’t have in my opinion. McCain supporters are the same people that let Obama win. I do know this; most McCain supporters do so out of a feeling of obligation. Hayworth supporters do so out of a desire for change. Change in the party, change in the state and change in the White House. Who usually wins those fights? A hint, as I was leaving the office I scanned the new volunteer sign up sheet, the Denton’s signed up.
HATS OFF TO CHARLIE DANIELS….AT LEAST HE HAS THE COURAGE TO SPEAK HIS MIND!!!

I don’t know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I
think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally,
made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.
I don’t blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the
United States of America , as it is a truly wonderful place.
But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don’t care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying
to give me sensitivity lessons.
I don’t need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don’t have any-thing against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal
and if you don’t believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it’s tanta-mount to saying, “I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
It’s an “in your face” action and speaking just for me, I don’t like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn’t be happening.
Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again?
And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won’t mean anything anyway Besides, what good is another law going to do when you
won’t enforce the ones on the books now?
And what ever happened to the polls, guys? I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain’t paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.
This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can’t happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?
If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit. But I guess that doesn’t matter as long as you get re-elected.
Shame on you.
One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you
Well I’ve been pounded by the media before and I’m still rockin’ and rollin’ and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not.
And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don’t have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to face reality.
And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, “Oh it’s ok, ya’ll can stay here if you’ll just allow us to slap your wrist.”
And I know that some of you who read this column are saying “Well what’s wrong with that?”
I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we know. We don’t know who they are, where they are or what they’re up to and the way the Congress is going we’re not going to.
Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well?
If these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan ?
I think not.
All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life.
They don’t show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don’t tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop.
I want to make two predictions.
No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.
No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue.
I don’t know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, “I don’t care who I make mad and I don’t care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I’m going to lead the fight to get it straightened out.”
I don’t blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don’t respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others?
And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes Please get that other one out of my face.
God Bless America
Charlie Daniels
MY COUNTRY
IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY,
SPEAK UP!
I am not against immigration -
just come through like everyone else
Get a sponsor;
have a place to lay your head;
have a job;
pay your taxes;
live by the rules;
and
LEARN THE LANGUAGE
as all other immigrants have in the past
and
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
PART OF THE PROBLEM
Think about this:
If you don’t want to forward this
for fear of offending someone,
YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
Will we still be the Country of choice
and still be America if we continue
to make the changes forced on us by
people from other countries who came
to live in America because it is the
Country of Choice?
Think about it!
All we have to say is, when will
Someone do something about
MY RIGHTS?
We’ve gone so far the other way,
bent over backwards to not
offend anyone, that I am now
being offended.
But it seems no one has a problem
with that.
“In God We Trust”
is our national motto. This is not
some Christian, right wing, political slogan.
We adopted this motto because Christian men
and women – on Christian principles – founded
this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls
of our schools.
It is Time for America to Speak up

17 illegals captured in search for deputy shooters
Bob Christie – Associated Press Writer – 5/2/2010 6:50:00 AM
PHOENIX – Authorities searching for drug smugglers who shot and wounded an Arizona sheriff’s deputy in the desert south of Phoenix said they captured 17 suspected illegal immigrants Saturday, including three who may have been involved in the incident.
The three matched descriptions given by the Pinal County sheriff’s deputy who was grazed by a bullet fired by a group of about five smugglers were questioned but were not believed to have been the actual shooters, sheriff’s Lt. Tamatha Villar said.
The deputy was released from the hospital several hours after the Friday afternoon incident. He is expected to return to work next week.
The shooting came amid a growing national debate over the state’s new law cracking down on illegal immigration. A backlash over the law has erupted, with civil rights activists, concerned it will lead to racial profiling, calling for protests and boycotts.
Several hundred officers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, assisted by several helicopters, scoured a 10-square-mile area of rugged desert about 50 miles south of Phoenix on Saturday. The search was called off as darkness fell.
The U.S. Border Patrol searched areas outside the perimeter and made additional arrests of suspected illegal immigrants. “Their numbers are much, much higher,” Villar said.
A Border Patrol spokesman said he couldn’t immediately ascertain how many detentions his agency made.
Criticism of the law figured prominently at dozens of immigrants rights marches and rallies held on Saturday across the nation, including Arizona events in Phoenix and Tucson that drew thousands.
The new law’s passage came amid increasing anger in Arizona about violence, drug smugglers and illegal immigration drop houses. The issue gained renewed attention a month ago when a southern Arizona rancher was shot and killed by a suspected illegal border crosser.
Arizona politicians called the shooting an outrage and urged the federal government to do more to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
The violence “should show the rest of the country what we Arizonans have known for too long - the unsecured border poses a very real and very immediate danger,” said U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, a Democrat whose district includes part of Pinal County.
Deputy Louie Puroll, 53, was patrolling near Interstate 8 when he came upon a stash of marijuana bales and five suspected smugglers. At least one of the suspects opened fire on him.
A running gunbattle ensued, with at least 30 shots exchanged, probably many more, Villar said. The deputy used his pistol until it either jammed or ran out of bullets, then discarded the gun and began firing with his tactical rifle.
At some point, he was hit in the back, the bullet tearing out a chunk of flesh. The deputy believes it is likely that he shot one of the smugglers, but searchers have found no evidence of that.
Puroll used his cell phone to call dispatchers for help, setting off a frantic hourlong search for the deputy in the remote desert, Villar said.
Villar described one of the suspects as a man who spoke Spanish with a Sinaloan accent and wore a green or brown Army fatigue-type long sleeve shirt, tan-colored pants and black hiking boots.
Another suspect wore a grey “hoodie” sweatshirt, green pants and black and white tennis shoes, she said.
The area is a well-known smuggling corridor for drugs and illegal immigrants headed from Mexico to Phoenix and the U.S. interior.
There were reports that at least one helicopter came under fire during the manhunt on Friday, but Villar said Saturday that report has been largely discounted.
Puroll, a 15-year department veteran, had been on the lookout for smugglers when he discovered the suspected smugglers, two armed with rifles, authorities said.
Pinal County sheriff Paul Babeu has been warning of increased violence in the smuggling corridor where the deputy was shot.
“The stakes are higher,” Villar said Saturday. “As the violence increases on the border, as cartels continue to fight over land, and ownership rights of land to move their drugs and people through, we’re going continue to see these and we’re going to continue to see the violence escalate if we don’t take swift action.”

LIVE: Pinal deputy shot by suspected illegal immigrant.
A Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy was shot in the stomach Friday after a traffic stop on Interstate 8, according sheriff’s officials.
Authorities said the deputy was shot by a suspected undocumented immigrant and other suspects were being sought.
The deputy apparently pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 8 near Arizona 84 at about 4:30 p.m. Friday. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he was shot in the stomach, said Lt. Tamatha Villar, spokesperson for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office
No further details were immediately available. Sky 12 is responding to the scene.

JD Surges in Recent Polls
JD Surges in Recent Polls
Its Time to Throw Senator John McCain a Retirement Party!
Dear Fellow Conservatives,
Thanks to your efforts and thanks to your support, just one month after officially announcing my candidacy and kicking off our campaign we are soaring in the polls!
In a survey released today, prominent independent pollster Scott Rasmussen of Rasmussen Reports released new findings that shows our race has considerably tightened against John McCain – and is now one of the most competitive races in the nation!
Here are the results:
41% JD Hayworth (+15% !!)
48% John McCain
Back in January, long before I was even a candidate, Rasmussen released a similar poll – but the difference between then and now is remarkable. In January, 53% said they favored McCain – while I received 31%.
Now that voters are beginning to hear our Consistent Conservative message…
And now that voters are learning there is a real alternative to John McCain and his Washington Establishment voting record and bank account, they are following YOUR LEAD and sending a message to Washington that “enough is enough” by supporting our campaign!
In just one month since we announced, our hard work brought the Washington Establishment’s ultimate insider back under 50% and closed the gap by an earthshaking 15%. IN JUST ONE MONTH!
There is still so much to do… so I hope you’ll answer this email in two special ways…
First, I hope you’ll CLICK HERE and make an important contribution of $25, $50 or even $100 today to help us keep this momentum going! John McCain and his Washington Establishment cronies won’t sit back and take this defeat lightly.
They have already spent more than $1 MILLION attacking us and I need your help to keep reaching out to the voters on issues important to Arizona and America: creating jobs, reducing Washington spending, stopping ObamaCare schemes from becoming law, and preventing John McCain and Barack Obama from passing Amnesty as they have vowed to do.
And, second, I need to ask a special favor: Please look among your friends and find just one person who will join our campaign by matching your contribution of $25, $50 or even $100 today with one of their own.
Right now John McCain is calling in every favor he’s got. Every debt he’s owed by the Washington Establishment and special interests is being cashed-in. He is trotting-out their Beltway endorsements whenever he can. But this race isn’t about serving Washington. This race is about Washington serving us. That’s why I’m running and that’s why our campaign is gaining momentum each and every day!
Thank you again for your support, your determination, your hard work and the commitment you share with me to bring a Consistent Conservative voice to the U.S. Senate!
Together, since we announced our campaign just one month ago, we have made this one of the most competitive races in the nation! Please take a moment to CLICK HERE and send $25, $50 or even $100… or whatever you can afford… and help us continue building this amazing momentum!
Clearly, voters are rejecting John McCain’s negative attacks… all $1 million dollars of them!
Clearly, voters are tired of John McCain’s 28-years of votes for bailouts, deficit spending, Amnesty and higher taxes.
And clearly, your support has been effective so far – so please, help us build on our momentum with a special contribution of $25, $50 or even $100 today!
Thank you in advance for your generous support – and thank you again!

And This Just In: Gabby Giffords Town Hall on Thursday Night, August 6
Please tell your friends and family!
Pasted below is more information about the August 8th Code Blue Tea Party protests for health care freedom at Gabby Giffords’ offices in Tucson and Sierra Vista.
1) What, When and Where
2) This Just In–Gabby Giffords Town Hall on Thursday Night, August 6
3) How to Sign Up—And Info on Other AZ Rallies
4) Ideas for Signs
5) Why this Protest is Important
1) WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE
Members of the Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity are joining allied organizations this Saturday, August 8th, at 9 am, for protests at the offices of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Her Tucson office is at 1661 N. Swan Road (SW corner of Swan and Pima), Tucson, 85712. Her Sierra Vista office is at 77 Calle Portal, Sierra Vista, 85635.
Our message to Congress, Washington bureaucrats, and special interests:
HANDS OFF OUR HEALTH CARE!
AFP Arizona activists will join Arizona Tea Party, 912 Project Arizona, Smart Girl Politics, Tea Party Patriots, and hundreds of citizen activists in these Code Blue protests for health care freedom at Gabrielle Giffords’ offices.
Congresswoman Giffords has serious reservations about the initial versions of the Obama-Pelosi-Kennedy “reform” plans. She knows that the current plans would result in massive new taxes, fail to control costs, and take America a long way toward a single-payer, Canadian-style system of government-directed health care (under which Washington bureaucrats would decide which doctors you can go to, and which medical procedures you can and can’t have).
Giffords is under intense pressure from President Obama, from her hard-left colleagues in Congress, and from radical activist groups that want to destroy what remains of America’s private health insurance system. We need to make sure that Giffords hears loud and clear from grassroots supporters of health care freedom!
Location for Giffords’ offices: Saturday, August 8, 9:00 am. Tucson–1661 N. Swan Road (SW corner of Swan and Pima), Tucson, 85712. Sierra Vista–77 Calle Portal, Sierra Vista, 85635

5) WHY THIS PROTEST IS IMPORTANT
This is the fight of the decade for American liberty. Now is the time to take a stand.
President Obama and the leftists in Congress wanted to hurry up and complete the national government’s takeover of American health care–before the public got a chance to find out what was in the legislation. We are grateful to report that the legislation does not look like it will move until after the August recess. That means we have a very limited window to act.
The same people who have taken over private banks and much of the auto industry now want to take over even more of the health care sector. The same people who make you wait in line at the Post Office want to create a system in which you will have to wait weeks, months, or even years for life-saving or life-improving medical services. The same kind of people who run America’s very expensive and very ineffective public schools claim that they will (somehow) maintain quality and control costs in the health care sector.
Some of the central planners in Washington want to give government the power to say which doctors you can go to, and which medical procedures you can and can’t have. President Obama is not sure whether the government should have allowed his own grandmother to get a hip replacement. Imagine how Washington bureaucrats will treat YOU!
We must take a stand NOW to protect elderly patients, to maintain the high quality of health services in America, and to preserve the essential doctor-patient relationship. Government has already distorted US health insurance markets by making private health insurance too expensive for many Americans, and by making American workers dependent upon on employer-provided insurance. But if you think things are bad now, wait until government completes its takeover of the medical sector. We must STOP the rapid march of socialist health care!

FRIDAY–Health Care Tea Party protests in Prescott, Scottsdale, Sierra Vista, and Tucson
The Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity is joining the National Tea Party Protest Day this Friday (July 17) with protests at the local offices of key members of Arizona’s Congressional delegation.
The leftists in Congress are twisting arms right now, trying to complete the national government’s takeover of American health care. The same folks who have taken over private banks and the auto industry now want to take over even more of the health care sector. The same folks who make you wait in line at the Post Office want to create a system in which you will have to wait weeks, months, or even years for life-saving or life-improving medical services.
Some of the central planners in Washington want to give government the power to say which doctors you can go to, and which medical procedures you can and can’t have. President Obama is not sure whether the government should have allowed his own grandmother to get a hip replacement. Imagine how Washington bureaucrats will treat OUR grandmothers!
We must STOP the relentless march of socialist medicine!
Here in Arizona, it appears that U.S. Reps. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Pima County), Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Prescott/Flagstaff) and Harry Mitchell (D-Scottsdale/Tempe) are not hell-bent on creating a single-payer, Canadian-style system of government-directed health care. But they are under intense pressure from President Obama and their hard-left colleagues in Congress. We need to give them some grassroots pressure in the direction of freedom!
In MARICOPA COUNTY, protesters will meet at the office of U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell, at 7201 East Camelback Road, Suite 335, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 (on the SE corner of Scottsdale Road and Camelback) on Friday, July 17, from 9 to 10 a.m. Please bring protest signs and water. AFP Arizona will bring literature, as well as iced coffee and doughnuts. For more info about the Harry Mitchell event, contact Tom Jenney at tjenney@afphq.org.
In TUCSON, members of the Tucson Tea Party will protest outside of the office of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, on the southwest corner of Swan and Pima, on Friday, July 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. The Tucson Tea Party org suggests that everyone wear red. For more info on the Tucson event, contact Trent Humphries at tucsonteaparty@yahoo.com.
In PRESCOTT, members of the Prescott Tea Party will gather at the office of U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, at 240 South Montezuma, beginning at noon on Friday, July 17. They will walk over to the office of Sen. John McCain, at 122 North Cortez Street. The Prescott Tea Party suggests that protesters wear hospital gowns, nurses, scrubs, and/or lab coats (or just wear blue). For more info on the Prescott event, contact Mona Patton at prescottteaparty@gmail.com.
In SIERRA VISTA, members of the 912 Project of Cochise County will gather at the Sierra Vista office of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, at 77 Calle Portal, Suite B-160, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17. For more info on the Sierra Vista event, contact 912projectcochisecounty@gmail.com.

Also: This week, be sure to check out a new TV ad from Patients United Now, entitled “Shona.” It will air on a number of national cable news outlets, including Fox News, CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, and others. Shona Holmes, the subject of the commercial, is a Canadian citizen who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Under the Canadian government-run health care system, Shona was told she would have to wait six months to see a specialist, but her condition needed immediate treatment. She and her husband mortgaged their home and came to the United States to get the care she needed, which saved her life. Unfortunately, her story is one of so many in Canada and Great Britain in which those who are sick are not getting the care they need. You can watch the TV commercial online at www.patientsunitednow.org.
Finally, be sure to visit www.azhealthcarefreedom.com for more information about the Arizona Health Care Freedom Act, coming to the statewide ballot in November 2010.
