Mr. Dave The Boomerang Guy

I wasn’t sure if I was standing in a room filled with magical flying animals, fantasy butterflies or, I’m not sure what I thought. Since I was visiting with David Fantone, the boomerang guy, I figured I must be looking at boomerangs, but so many colors made me doubt my own whereabouts. I was about to become educated into the world of boomerangs. Fantone, age 54, explained that what I was looking at were the recreational “boomerangs” used for leisure, recreation and competition. These are all “returning” boomerangs. “Non-returning” boomerangs, known as throw sticks or kylies, were used as far back as Roman times, as weapons for hunting small prey.

Fantone grinned and told me he was very overweight at one time. He decided to take up kung fu and lost 70 pounds and then his weight loss plateaued. He decided to try exercising by playing Frisbee golf but that did not entice him, so he switched to boomerangs. He became hooked; he lost another 40 pounds. He told me the average age of boomerangers at any competition is or near 50 years old and most have a keen interest in things that fly, the aerodynamics of it all.

Fantone is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and how he ended up in Applegate, OR I never did get around to asking. I am just glad he is here. I did however, ask him, “What else about the boomerangs fascinates you?” He easily replied, “All my life I have been focusing to develop the spiritual side of myself and let my body go. A few years back, I realized that the mind, body and spirit must work together in harmony. For some people, this would not be a new concept, for me it was. Some people meditate, some pray; I have my boomerangs. If I have a strong thought or a wish or a prayer, I give this feeling to my boomerang, throw it out to the universe and take what ever comes back. Of course, this is not what I do all the time with my boomerangs or even that frequently, but that path is there when I need it.”

Fantone is focused and very philanthropic with his boomerang fascination. Two years ago he started a project with fellow boomerangers called, “Boomerangs for Baghdad.” Since that time, over 300 boomerangs have been sent to the stationed service men and women in Baghdad. The USO helped with the distribution. Fantone, himself a veteran, told me, “You have no idea how lonely and homesick those soldiers can get.”

He has also sent boomerangs to our soldiers via the Wayne Owen Fighting Arts School, in Grant’s Pass. He said this was very personal for him as many of the students at the Wayne Owen School, where he himself trained, have family overseas. Fantone helped many of the young students make their own boomerangs, which were then shipped with a letter or a special message. “I feel the boomerang carries its own message, ‘Return Home to US’, Fantone proudly murmured.

Not only is Fantone passionate about his boomerangs, he takes his passion and makes it happen. If he is not doing demos at the Grant’s Pass Boys and Girls Club or the Pumpkin Patch at Pacific, in Williams, he is doing demonstrations and talking to the school’s DARE programs. Fantone explained that boomerangs can be a shop project, an art project, a science project and most certainly great for physical education classes. Most of the boomerangs, if not being made in a class setting as a do-it-yourself project, are made on site, at his house in Murphy. He uses materials of light wood and plastic for kids, or heavier ply woods and paper embedded resin materials for competition. Speaking of competition, in 2005, Fantone placed first in accuracy throwing at the west coast round up in Salem, OR and first place at the nationals for best design. In 2006 he won for best craftsmanship and in 2008 for best artwork. Fantone has a ‘borrow a boomerang” program, just like a library program. As much as he loves competing in all aspects of the boomerang, he said he would much rather teach someone, in his shop, how to build a boomerang, instead of selling you one. The lesson is free, but in return you make Fantone a boomerang.

David Fantone is one amazing man of many other talents, not thus mentioned. To contact David Fantone, e-mail him at boomerangboo@peak.org.

It is with great excitement that we are passing on to you this breaking news development from Massachusetts where a brand new poll has Republican Scott Brown surging to a 4% lead in the polls for the Special Election for U.S. Senate.

Scott Brown now leads liberal Democrat Martha Coakley by a 50%-46% margin. This is the first time Brown has hit the magical threshold of 50% in a poll, suggesting he has the momentum to win this race in this heavily Democratic state!

The Democrats are in a state of panic and have just dumped even more money into this race. We here at the Tea Party Express are countering with our own TV ad campaign for Scott Brown that is running into the hundreds of thousands of dollars – thanks to your support.

Tomorrow we are expanding our ad buy even more – and we need your support. The final deadlines for us to purchase advertising is the end of the day Friday, and then one last time for the end of the day Monday. This is it, there are no more tomorrow’s – we must make our final push now!

You can make a contribution to our campaign effort for Scott Brown – HERE.

We must take action, for if we can pull out a victory, we stop the Democrats dead in their tracks in their effort to secretly ram through their socialistic healthcare plan.

That’s because Scott Brown wholeheartedly opposes the Democrat’s government-run healthcare plan and has made his opposition to it a central part of his campaign.

If Brown wins then he will be the deciding vote to kill the socialistic healthcare monstrosity in the Senate!

The Left is Worried…

Dear Friend,
The left-wing Center for American Progress has a complaint: The work of your National Center for Public Policy Research is too “widely reprinted.”
Yes, they actually have that complaint!
We won’t say we sympathize with the whining of a group run by Bill Clinton’s White House chief-of-staff, but we admit: The left has [...]

The Left is Worried…

Dear Friend,

The left-wing Center for American Progress has a complaint: The work of your National Center for Public Policy Research is too “widely reprinted.”

Yes, they actually have that complaint!

We won’t say we sympathize with the whining of a group run by Bill Clinton’s White House chief-of-staff, but we admit: The left has reason to be concerned.

Thanks to our generous supporters, in 2009 the National Center for Public Policy Research earned over 6,000 media citations, interviews and published op-eds for the conservative, free-market message we share.

That includes over 600 op-eds in newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald, Investor’s Business Daily, New York Post and other major papers, and repeatedly in over 20 black community publications as well…

…and continual appearances in the major broadcast media, including frequent bookings on the Fox News Channel powerhouses O’Reilly Factor, Glenn Beck and Hannity, and hundreds of talk radio stations.

In fact, our full-time Project 21 Fellow Deneen Borelli is on the Fox News Channel so often, they named her a “Contributor.”

But now we begin the most dangerous period of time for American liberty.

The big-government liberals see their political power slipping away.

They see with every slide in the polls that their numbers on Capitol Hill will be smaller next January.

They expect to lose — at minimum — their supermajority in the U.S. Senate.

The left fears it could lose control of the House of Representatives next year.

So for the left, the time to push their agenda is now…

…and for us, the time to alert the American people is now.

We need the continued help of dedicated supporters to keep the left on the ropes.

Would you consider sending a special year-end gift?

In 2009, working together with supporters and allies, we stopped the left — despite liberal control of the White House and both Houses of Congress — from achieving its two biggest goals: socialized medicine and cap-and-trade.

The left’s cap-and-trade push is in deep trouble, and we may yet prevail on health care.

Will you help us continue the fight?

All gifts to the National Center for Public Policy Research are tax-deductible, and there’s still time to earn a deduction for the 2009 tax year. You can donate conveniently online by credit card or PayPal by clicking here, or telephone us at (202) 543-4110 or fax us at (202) 543-5975 to donate by credit card.
Any support you send will be gratefully accepted and put to work for liberty right away.

With sincere appreciation for all you do,

Best regards,

Amy and David Ridenour

P.S. We wish you, and the United States of America, the very best in the coming year.

from the Office of Senator Mitch McConnell

Thursday, December 17, 2009

‘And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen. That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding the importance of getting it right on health care reform:

“Senators on both sides acknowledge that the health care bill we’re considering is among the most significant pieces of legislation any of us will ever consider.

“So it stands to reason that we’d devote significant time and attention to it.

“Indeed, some would argue that we should spend more time and attention on this bill than most — if not every — previous bill we’ve considered.

“The Majority disagrees.

“Why? Because this bill has become a political nightmare for them.

“They know Americans overwhelmingly oppose it, so they want to get it over with.

“Americans are already outraged at the fact that Democrat leaders took their eyes off the ball. Rushing the process on a partisan line makes the situation even worse.

“Americans were told the purpose of reform was to reduce the cost of health care.

“Instead, Democrat leaders produced a $2.5 trillion, 2,074-page monstrosity that vastly expands government, raises taxes, raises premiums, and wrecks Medicare.

“And they want to rush this bill through by Christmas — one of the most significant, far-reaching pieces of legislation in U.S. history. They want to rush it.

“And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen.

“That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private.

“That’s what they intend to bring to the floor and force a vote on before Christmas.

“So this entire process is essentially a charade.

“But let’s just compare the process so far with previous legislation for some perspective. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve done and where we stand:

• The Majority Leader intends to bring this debate to a close as early as this weekend — four days from now, on this $2.5 trillion dollar mistake

• No American who hasn’t been invited into the Majority Leader’s conference room knows what will be in that bill

• This bill has been the pending business of the Senate since the last week of November — less than four weeks ago.

• We started the amendment process two weeks ago.

• We’ve had 21 amendments and motions — less than two a day.

“Now let’s look at how the Senate has dealt with previous legislation.

“No Child Left Behind (2001):

• 21 session days or 7 weeks.

• Roll Call votes: 44

• Number of Amendments offered: 157

“9/11 Commission/Homeland Security Act (2002):

• 19 session days over 7 weeks.

• Roll Call votes: 20

• Number of Amendments offered: 30

“Energy Bill (2002):

• 21 session days over 8 weeks

• Number of Roll Call votes: 36

• Number of Amendments offered: 158

“This isn’t an energy bill. This is an attempt by a majority to take over one sixth of the U.S. economy — to vastly expand the reach and the role of government into the health care decisions of every single American — and they want to be done after one substantive amendment. This is absolutely inexcusable.

“I think Senator Snowe put it best on Tuesday:

‘Given the enormity and complexity,’ she said, ‘I don’t see anything magical about the Christmas deadline if this bill is going to become law in 2014.’

“And I think Senator Snowe’s comments on a lack of bipartisanship at the outset of this debate are also right on point.

“Here’s what she said in late November:

‘I am truly disappointed we are commencing our historic debate on one of the most significant and pressing domestic issues of our time with a process that has forestalled our ability to arrive at broader agreement on some of the most crucial elements of health care reform. The bottom line is, the most consequential health care legislation in the history of our country and the reordering of $33 trillion in health care spending over the coming decade shouldn’t be determined by one vote-margin strategies – surely we can and must do better.’

“The only conceivable justification for rushing this bill is the overwhelming opposition of the American people. Democrats know that the longer Americans see this bill the less they like it. Here’s the latest from Pew. It came out just yesterday.

“A majority (58 percent) of those who have heard a lot about the bills oppose them while only 32 percent favor them.”

“There is no justification for this blind rush — except a political one, and that’s not good enough for the American people.

“And there’s no justification for forcing the Senate to vote on a bill none of us has seen.

“Americans already oppose this bill. The process is just as bad.

“It’s completely reckless, completely irresponsible.”

###

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

This one will kill people.

It’s a good thing Harry Reid’s phony “health care” bill is looking like it will die because hidden within its thousands of pages is at least one provision that will condemn the sick and weak among us to an early death.

Reid is helping Barack Obama break another promise about the healthcare monstrosity he wants to ram down our throats. Obama promised there would be no limits on lifetime medical care. There will be no rationing he said, but like the rest of his socialist plans that was a lie. Rationing in any government run healthcare plan is essential.

The Democrats aren’t even pretending about rationing anymore: it’s in there.

Democrat lies have run smack into reality. Harry Reid has slipped a lifetime cap on health care treatments into his monstrous 2074 page bill.

This cynical skunk Reid slipped language describing what is ACTUALLY a life time health services cap for individuals, under the caption, “No lifetime or annual limits.”

Even the AP reports Reid’s bill certainly will allow insurance companies to eventually cut off payments for people they decide they’ve spent enough on.

Just cancer alone

Fortunately, The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, people who are actually fighting on our side, brought this to our attention.

Under Reid’s bill if you are diagnosed with cancer or another disease requiring massive amounts of expensive life saving drugs, the amount of treatments you can receive will eventually run out unless you run out.

Combined with Pelosi’s plans to sells our health care to drug companies by “indefinitely” blocking introduction of less expensive generic drugs, this will kill people. Cancer experts say some regimens of cancer treatments can exceed $100,000 a year. How many $100,000 years do you think the Democrats will allow you and me?

The tide is turning but we have to keep fighting.

The very latest news as reported in The Politico is that reality has paid a visit to Nancy Pelosi and she is now resigned to there being no final healthcare bill before Obama’s next State of The Union address.

She is changing gears and will re-direct her energies into destroying our economy with yet another futile “jobs stimulation” bill. Pelosi declared she is now back in “full campaign mode.” Well if they are in “full campaign mode” what else can we be in?

It’s time to saddle up and charge out onto the field of battle because we have a country to save. Let’s roll!

What have you done to defend American freedoms today?

I was born in one country, raised in another.

My father was born in another country.

I was not his only child.

He fathered several children with numerous women.

I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in

me.

My mother died at an early age from cancer.

Although my father deserted me and my mother raised me, I later

wrote a book idolizing my father not my mother.

Later in life, questions arose over my real name.

My birth records were sketchy.

No one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was

widely accepted in my new country, but I practiced non-traditional

beliefs and didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under

scrutiny.

I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult,

disguising myself as someone who really cared about them.

That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and

I embarked on a new career.

I wrote a book about my struggles growing up.

It was clear to those who read my memoirs, that I had difficulties

accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.

I became active in local politics in my 30’s then, with help behind the

scenes,

I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my

40s.

They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything.

I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no

experience in leading a single organization.

Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me, as

though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks.

I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.

This bolstered my ego.

At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy…

I was very critical of my country in the last war, and seized every

opportunity to bash my country.

But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on

the country’s economy.

I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better,

and every poor person would be fed and housed for free.

I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess.

It was the free market, banks and corporations.

I decided to start making citizens hate them and, if they became

envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.

I called mine “A People’s Campaign”.

That sounded good to all people.

I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the

traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular

support.

I knew that, if I merely offered the people ‘hope’,together we could

change our country and the world.

So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of

the downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include “persecuted minorities”.

My true views were not widely known and I kept them unknown, until

after I became my nation’s leader.

I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found

out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and

examined those people I associated with.

I’m glad they didn’t.

Then I became the most powerful man in the world.

And the world learned the truth.

Who am I?
